Boxing program at St. Barnabas Hospital turning around lives of Bronx youth
A boxing program in the Bronx is changing the lives of teenagers and young adults in the borough in an unexpected location in Fordham. "The corner of your eyes, it blinks out. Everything is focused," said Xavier Torres. It's taken years for Torres, 24, to find a vision this clear. "Everything went full circle," he said. His safe haven is a boxing gym inside St. Barnabas Hospital. The unassuming location is giving him a reset on life.

SBH Health System held a kickoff and official artwork unveiling reception to promote their first annual NY Team of Heroes Gala which will take place December 4th. The event is expected to raise over $1 million in support of the work they do to provide essential healthcare to underserved areas in the Bronx. St. Barnabas boxing program lands punch in ongoing battle to keep youth off the streets
For years community groups have turned to the sport of boxing to keep at-risk youth out of trouble in the streets, including a new program in the Bronx. Sweltering summer heat and the pains of life may be beating people up, but inside St. Barnabas Hospital's fitness center, young men are hitting back with everything they've got. "I keep coming because I want to be better," program participant David Helena said. "I'm not going to stop being better."

Team Enunwa provides Thanksgiving meals for Bronx families in need
Football and Thanksgiving, the two make quite the pair, even off the field. In the Bronx, former Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa represents the football and his foundation is providing meals for families in need. Quincy’s foundation, Team Enunwa, joined Al’s Angels and SBH Health System in distributing over 300 meals at the SBH Health and Wellness Center in the Bronx. Families received everything from the sides to the turkey.
